Why Is SPF Important?
We all know the importance of using SPF. By applying sun cream to our faces (and our bodies!) we're protecting ourselves from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays: UVA and UVB. Whilst we all love a good tan and could likely soak up the sun for hours, long term exposure to UVA rays can cause sun damage to the skin's thickest layer – the dermis – which can result in fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
When To Apply SPF
To do your very best at protecting your skin, opt for an SPF of at least 30 and apply it as the last step in your skincare routine. This means you'll be applying it after you've cleansed, toned, moisturised and layered on your favourite serum! If you're wearing makeup, you can apply your makeup over the top of your SPF afterwards - just wait a few minutes for your SPF to fully absorb into your skin first!
