This month our 'Woke Up In Spring' edit has got us all excited for warmer sunnier days ahead. But April is also the season for a little bit of a spring clean - and that doesn’t just apply to your home!
This is something Glossy's social media exec Hannah believes too."Pushing the reset button on my self-care routine is a priority for me," says Hannah. "Ensuring I’m taking the time to look after myself a bit more and therefore not just having a tidy home, but also a tidy mind!
"Sunday is always a great day for a reset to get you ready for the week ahead, so I’ve been making sure I up my self-care on this day. And not feeling an ounce of guilt having some well deserved “me time”. Monday mornings are not so bad when you look after yourself!"
Hannah's Sunday Self Care Routine
1. Wash my hair
Lately on a Sunday, I have been upping my haircare routine and pampering myself with some extra hair products that I don’t use in the week. As always, I wash my hair with Olaplex no.4 and no.5 Shampoo and Conditioner. I have found has done wonders for my hair since using it. It’s expensive but a little goes a long way and it’s worth the investment.
Recently though, I have also discovered Lee Stafford Hair Apology Power Shots. These little capsules contain serum that I use on towel dried hair and the result is silky smooth tresses. They have really helped manage my hair and keep it healthy while I have been waiting to have my hair done at the salon.
2. Do my nails
By Sunday I usually find my nails need a bit of care and attention. With my job and having to film content, I like to make sure that my nails are looking nice with a polish. Now that it’s spring as well, I’m hoping we can get the sandals out soon. So I also make sure to give myself a pedicure too. I love OPI nail polishes as I find they are really good quality and long lasting. With summer looming, I find myself opting for brighter colours like pinks or pastels too.
3. My Sunday night skincare routine
As I’ve got older, skincare has become much more important to me. So Sunday always calls for some extra pampering when it comes to my skin. I find that if I’ve had a few drinks at the weekend, by Sunday my skin can feel quite dry and so I like to give it some extra care.
Firstly, I cleanse my face with Skin & Co Roma's Truffle Therapy Morning Dew, which was in this month’s GLOSSYBOX. After this, I'll use my GLOSSYBOX Exfoliating Clay Scrub as a clay face mask, along with PIXI DetoxifEYE Eye Patches. Next, I'll use the Feel Free Antioxidant Eye Contour Cream(which again was in this month’s GLOSSYBOX!) before finally using the GLOSSYBOX Skincare Night Serum. My skin is then prepped and hydrated, ready for sleep.
4. Netflix and a cup of tea
After dinner, I end my night by getting a big blanket and getting cosy on the sofa with my boyfriend to watch something good on TV. I don’t know about you, but I love a good murder documentary on Netflix. I get hooked on them and want to watch the next episode straight away.
We are also big Marvel fans in my house and Sunday is the day we catch up on the new Winter Soldier series that is on Disney +. I would highly recommend if you love the films! I will always settle down with a big mug of Yorkshire Tea (caffeine doesn’t tend to keep me awake) and usually a little snack as it’s still the weekend - in my opinion you can always treat yourself, whether that’s a bit of chocolate or a yummy dessert!
5. Fresh bedding and a candle
There is nothing better than fresh sheets when you get into bed. I always feel I sleep better as well. I also spray the pillows with this works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray after being introduced to it by a friend. It contains lavender, so is perfect for creating a calming atmosphere to help you drift off to seep.
I'll light a candle before going to bed and leave it burning for a little while, so by the time I come to bed the room is filled with a lovely scent. At the moment I’m loving the Jo Malone London Mimosa and Cardamom scent!
