I know you’re all really excited to receive the HUDA Beauty Lip Contour (who wouldn’t be?), but this second sneak peek is worth the wait too! We’re bringing you two top-of-the-range handcrafted makeup brushes…
Introducing Luxie Brushes
Luxie makeup brushes are some of the best in the business (you might have received the tapered highlighter brush in our Advent Calendar). Vegan and cruelty-free, they are created to help you unleash your true beauty. You’ll either have received the Medium Fan Brush or the Onyx Noir Small Contouring Brush.
Wondering how to use a fan brush? Or make the most of your contour brush? I’ve got you covered.
Six Surprising Ways To Use Your Brushes
1. Accentuate Your Best Facial Features
As the name suggests, the Luxie Contour Brush is best used for contouring. Gently sweep and blend your favourite bronzing product along your nose, the hollows of your cheeks and the peripheries of your face. If you want an extra bronzed look, make sure your bronzer and highlighter meet across your cheekbones.
2. Get A Lit-From-Within Glow
Pair your Luxie Fan Brush with your favourite highlighter and apply the shimmery powder to the high points of your face. Focus on the places you want to make more prominent, like your cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and the tip of your nose.
Insider Tip: Lucinka, our resident makeup artist, sweeps a light dusting just above our eyebrows when she does our makeup for the Facebook Live. It creates an extra glowy look, particularly if you use a subtle highlighter.
3. Brush Away Bake
This is one of my favourite ways to use a fan brush! When I’ve baked under my eyes, along my nose and carved out my contour, I then use this brush to sweep away the setting powder from under my eyes. Its soft bristles lightly brush away the bake without causing any creasing or disturbing the rest of my makeup.
Insider Tip: Find out how to bake by scrolling to the bottom of this blog post.
4. Make Your Hairline Look Thicker
If you’ve ever noticed your hairline thinning and want to make your hair look fuller, then this tip is for you. Use your contouring brush to apply a little eyeshadow to your hairline (make sure the hue matches your natural hair colour!), then lightly spritz hairspray over the area and allow it to set.
5. Apply A Face Mask
I hate getting mask under my nails as I have nail extensions. Thanks to its thin and spread-out bristles, the fan brush is the perfect tool for applying any face mask.
When using a clay-based mask, I suggest sweeping a thin and even layer across your face. If you prefer a peel-off mask, I’d recommend applying a thicker layer. Either way, this trusty technique will make you feel as luxe as Luxie!
6. Give Yourself A Facial Massage
Your contour brush is the perfect size to give yourself a relaxing facial massage. Plus, its soft bristles won’t irritate your skin. Simply apply a few drops of facial serum to your brush then gently sweep it in circular motions across your face. Start from the centre of your face and work outwards towards the back of your ears. It will remove the toxins from under your skin and increase your blood circulation, for more radiant-looking skin.
There you have it, Glossies, all my top tips. You’ll never have to wonder how to use a fan brush now!
