Lip liner is essential for prolonging the wear of your lipstick and creating the illusion of a fuller pout. With our second sneak peek you can do just that. Enhance your pout with this soft wax lip pencil from one of our favourite collaborations! Creamy and smooth to apply, the Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo Lip Liner is blendable and subtle.
I'm smitten with the flattering hue, which is called Rosewood - it suits all skin tones and will take you from day to night with ease. As you may know, your lip liner should be a couple of shades darker to make your lips look fuller and defined, and our second sneak fits the bill perfectly.
1. Dust over your lips with concealer
A hack that I have learned over the years is to lightly dust some concealer over you lips using a foundation buffer brush. This will not only help staying power, but it will also make your lip liner look much more pigmented!
You can use any liquid concealer for this, but as you know, my favourite is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.
2. Highlight your cupid's bow
Highlighting your cupid's bow is an easy way to create the illusion of fuller lips. I love to apply the palest shade from the MAC Highlighter Palette using my fingers.
3. Slightly overline your cupid's bow
Using your Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo Lip Liner, start to line your top lip, slightly overlining (but not too much). Draw a small cross in the centre of your top lip where the lines from both sides meet.
4. Line your bottom lip
Now it's time to line your bottom lip, don't overline your lower lip as this can look a bit over the top.
5. Fill in the corners
You can now start to shade in the corners of your lips, which will help your lipstick stay put for longer and also help to create an ombré effect!
6. Contour your lips
Now we all know about contouring our faces, but did you know you can contour your lips too? This is so easy to do and it makes a huge different when it comes to making your lips look as kissable and as big as possible!
Simply draw 3 vertical lines on your bottom lip - one in the centre and one either side. Then draw two lines on your top lip either side of your cross in the centre!
7. Add lipstick
Now you can add lipstick so your lips really pack a punch. I recommend using a shade that's a couple of shades lighter than the lip liner so I used the matte shade Honey Love from MAC.
8. Add gloss for a high shine finish
If you prefer a glossy finish to a matte one you can simply apply a gloss or lip balm on top. I used the Lip Fudge Plumping Lip Conditioner from Tropic Skincare that featured in our Vegan Limited Edition GLOSSYBOX.
The finished look
Too often, lip liner is overlooked in favour of lipstick. Lip liner is so so vital and it can make a huge impact on not only the fullness of your lips, but also the staying power of your lipstick too!
