We want to introduce you to a new member of the team; businesswoman, professional makeup artist and star of The History Of Hair And Makeup video, Lucinka Hodnett! Lucinka joins us as our Resident MUA with over 8 years experience in the industry and specialises in fashion and bridal makeup.
We asked Lucinka who inspires her and some burning questions we all want to know the answers to.
How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?
I've been a professional makeup artist for over 8 years now. All through high school I loved makeup and I wanted to have a career where I could use my creativity. So after studying makeup in college I started working as a freelance makeup artist specialising in glamorous everyday makeup especially for brides and fashion.
What do you love most about makeup?
Makeup is a great confidence booster, different looks can make you feel so many different emotions.
I love that even a tiny bit of makeup can make you a bit stand taller.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I keep up with makeup and fashion trends from looking at what the stars are doing on the red carpet. There are a couple of makeup artists that really inspire me too.
I really admire Patrick Ta because the makeup looks he creates are so achievable yet so gorgeous.
Jose Corella is also incredible. I love how he makes skin look so fresh and gorgeously glowing.
He enhances what you've already got rather than hiding it.

Who are your favourite celebs to follow on social media?
Olivia Culpo has such a unique style and I really admire Maya Jama too - shes real, she switches up her look and isn't afraid to be a normal woman.

How would you describe your signature look?
My clients always say my speciality is skin. I really focus on getting really nice, dewy, glowing skin and this all starts with a good skincare regime. I had problem skin when I was younger so always concentrated on covering up blemishes without my makeup looking cakey.
I like to focus on skin and covering up any red marks, blemishes and spots without it looking cakey.
One product that I can't live without is Alpha-H Liquid Gold, which I discovered about 2 years ago. It is amazing - I just wish it had existed sooner because I actually ended up going on medication (silly mistake) for my skin. Keep an eye out for my blog on my skincare regime.
I always pair amazingly glowing skin with fairly naturally looking eye makeup, nude lips and a good brow to frame the face.

What’s your favourite product right now?
The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is amazing. It has a long-wearing, buildable formula that helps to create a soft, even finish. This is perfect for my clients too as it's non-drying and crease-proof, which after a sleepless night before a wedding, is a lifesaver.
