Just because it’s now well and truly winter does not mean we need to relegate the joys of a floral fragrance. In fact, some of the latest additions to our glossy perfume collection are completely flowery but when warmed up with a hint of wood and spice, suddenly are synonymous with ‘winter in a bottle’.

A bag of beautyOne of the loveliest concepts when it comes to fragrance. Parisian fragrance house Maison Martin Margiela produces scents that recreate moments from the past and present, taking you back to the first time you applied lipstick or the subconscious utter peace you feel when sitting by an open fire. Lipstick On smells like what can only be described as your mum’s makeup bag. You would simply have to smell it to know what we mean. Maison Martin Margiela Replica Lipstick On, £80, Selfridges

The floral dreamLike the frosty British coastline in the depths of December, this unique fragrance from Diptyque blurs the perspectives between land and sea. Salty sea spray blends effortlessly with sensual apple blossom and trails off with roasted coffee and toasted sesame. A complete sensory experience and a scent you could wear day and night, season to season, year on year. Diptyque Florabellio, £58, John Lewis

Blooming beautifulAs if the name ‘Crushing Bloom’ wasn’t gorgeous enough, this fragrance from slick British brand Tom Daxon had most of the women in the office gasp on smelling it. It’s one of those fragrances that we think every woman would adore, whether she is a citrus, spicy or floral lady. It ticks so many boxes, the main one being that it is just utterly devine. Imagine feminity could be filtered into a glass bottle– well that’s what we have here. Tom Daxon Crushing Bloom, £105, Liberty

Sugar and spiceWhen we hear the word Mimosa, we think of a tall glass of posh Bucks Fizz, though on this occasion, we would be wrong. This stunning fragrance from Jo Malone has mists of honeyed mimosa, the pretty yellow flower that has the freshest floral smell, like, ever. When delicately teamed with crushed spicy cardamom and smooth sandalwood, the result is something quite hypnotic. Jo Malone London Mimosa & Cardamom, £85.00, John Lewis

A woody wonderA truly whimsical fragrance, this scent from Van Cleef & Arpels symbolises love, the fulfillment of dreams and protection from evil. With a complex composition of floral top notes, fruity heart notes and musky wood leaving a trail in the base, this scent is totally dreamy. The bottle is nothing short of magical with a ruby red crystal like flacon and a silver fairy placed delicately on the top. A super sweet gift for the favourite woman in your life. Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie Rubis, £54, John Lewis
