The Science Of Hair Growth

- Growth (Anagen) Phase - If you’re after hair growth, this is the most important phase. The longer hair stays in the Anagen phase, the longer it will grow. Incredibly, about 80-90% of hair is in the growth phase at one time!
- Transitional (Catagen) Phase - The transitional phase lasts around two weeks, signaling the end of active growth. In this stage, hair detaches itself from its blood supply and a ‘club hair’ is formed.
- Shedding (Telogen) Phase - In this phase, resting ‘club hairs’ are released and the hair follicle rests for around three months. New hair then pushes club hairs up and out of their follicle. Feel like you’re shredding a lot of hair when brushing and washing? There’s no need to be too worried; shedding up to 100 hairs a day is completely natural! Once the follicle has rested, the Anagen phase then begins again.
