Are you self-isolating or quarantined to your home? Trust me, I get it. I've been set up in my home office for a couple of weeks now and it's starting to take its toll. As I've got some extra time on my hands, though, (perks of having no commute), I've been indulging in a daily pamper session. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a list of homemade face mask recipes that you can make using the food from your kitchen.

Whatever your skin concern, I’ve got the face mask for you! All you need to do is mix the ingredients together, apply the mask for 10 to 20 minutes, then thoroughly rinse it off. Ready? Here are your recipes...

Hydrate Dry Skin With An Avocado-Based Homemade Face Mask

avocado sliced

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt

Why It Works:

Avocado and olive oil are both rich in omega fatty acids that moisturise your skin and seal cracks between skin cells. Meanwhile, the honey and yogurt soothe your skin, leaving it feeling soft and plump.

Insider Tip: The honey can make this face mask a little sticky. To avoid getting it in your hairline, I’d recommending wearing a towel or spa headband.

Brighten Tired And Dull Skin With Lemon Juice

Homemade Face Masks

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Why It Works:

The sugar acts as an exfoliator and removes dead skin cells, while the olive oil hydrates your skin and the vitamin C in the lemon protects your complexion from free radical damage. Any dull skin will instantly appear fresher, dewier and healthier!

Treat Oily Skin With An Oat-Based Homemade Face Mask

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 banana, mashed
  • Half a teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of oats

Why It Works:

Admittedly, this recipe sounds like a healthy version of banana pancakes, but it really does help to control oily skin. The vitamin A in the banana helps to produce fibroblasts (the cells that keep your skin firm and healthy). Meanwhile, the baking powder and oats absorb the excess oil in your skin and help to reduce any inflammation.

Soothe Blemish-Prone Skin With Coconut Oil

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil

Why It Works:

This Homemade face mask helps to soothe blemishes and redness. Boasting anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, tea trea oil helps to calm swelling and inflammation. Meanwhile, the coconut oil hydrates your skin and reduces the damage caused by free radicals.

Fight The Signs Of Ageing With A Cucumber-Based Homemade Face Mask

Homemade Face Masks

What You’ll Need:

  • Half a cucumber, grated
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Why It Works:

Cucumber and lemon are full of key anti-ageing ingredients. While the vitamin C in the lemon protects from free radical damage, the vitamin A in the cucumber is responsible for the healthy production of collagen. Wrinkles and fine lines? All reduced!
