Luckily, with the help of the January GlossyBox, we can help you take care of both those factors. Inside this month’s box (if you’re not a Glossy subscriber already, join here to get 5 beauty treats delivered to your door each month), you’ll find the gorgeous Dr. Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil, £24 for 15mls
All natural and cruelty-free, the Moroccan Rose Oil boasts high levels of Vitamin C to stimulate collagen production and Vitamin A to protect against free radicals. Plus, the nourishing Almond Oil helps brighten and moisturise, revealing a radiant and rejuvenated complexion.
There has been a great response on social media and I personally trialled this for six weeks before we put it in the box. Like some of you, I was concerned an oil would worsen oily skin but I was delighted this is lightweight and non-greasy. You can use this oil morning and night and the moisture hit is a serious saviour for skin that’s feeling a little, well, lacklustre. I like to use this at night whilst doing a relaxing facial massage. I also recommend using this alongside your usual skincare regime!
Prep For Your Facial Massage
Now for the DIY facial routine. You can do this in the morning or evening, it’s up to you, all you’ll need is clean skin (always cleanse first to avoid pressing any dirt or grime deeper into your pores), a mirror and your bottle of Dr Botanicals facial oil.For the best results, take three deep breaths before you start your DIY facial, and use this five minutes of massage time to relax and really engage with the art of self-care. If you can switch off while you take care of your skin, you’ll reap stress-busting benefits for your mind too.How To: 5 Minute DIY Facial Massage
Step 1: The Prep
Apply a few drops of oil to your fingertips, rub them together lightly, then gently press the oil onto your skin focusing on the cheeks, forehead and chin.Step 2: Wake Up Your Eyes
Pop another drop of oil onto your index fingers, then place them at the inner corner of each eye. Using a gentle pressure, sweep your fingers up along your brow bone towards the outer corners of your eyes, then sweep them under the eyes towards the inner corners again. Repeat this full loop six times to help drain any fluid that’s causing puffiness, and to boost circulation. Make sure you keep your fingers lubricated with the oil to avoid pulling on the delicate skin.
Step 3: Reduce Tension Lines
If you’re prone to frowning or tensing your forehead muscles, this will feel great. Pop some oil onto your first three fingers (no pinkies required for this one), and place your thumbs one on each temple. Using the fingers on each hand, rub your forehead in small, gentle circles, starting between the eyebrows and moving upwards and out towards your hairline, then back to the centre. Do this for around 60 seconds, to release tension and help stimulate circulation and collagen production.Step 4: Sculpt Your Cheeks
This will help to add definition to your face and also release plenty of tension, so it’s a great one to do daily. Pop some oil on the tips of your index and middle fingers if there isn’t enough on your skin already, then press your two fingers underneath your cheekbones, near your mouth. Using small circle motions again, gently ‘knead’ along your cheekbones towards your ears and up to the hairline. Repeat this eight times, to help drain any puffiness and release tension from your muscles.Step 5: Define Your Jawline
The final step, and this is especially beneficial if you tend to clench your jaw when you’re stressed. Place your thumbs under your chin, one on each side. Then using your index fingers, make small ‘pinching’ motions along your jawline, moving from the point of your chin up to your ears and back down again. Try this five times, to boost lymphatic drainage in the area and release any tension build-up.Love this? For more beauty tips, news and tutorials see what’s new on Beauty Unboxed today.
