Many of the high street stores we usually turn to when seeking out a new addition to our wardrobe are jumping on the beauty bandwagon and bringing out a range of products to paint our faces with, too.
Offering up the opportunity to get your hands on a new palette, foundation or lipstick and still have change from a ten pound note, we wanted to put one collection in particular under the microscope to see how good it is.
Here's how we got on trying out New Look's beauty collection...
'This palette has a selection of 12 stunning shades that can be used for a subtle day look or built up for a dramatic effect. The shades layer effortlessly and are really easy to blend - there's even a handy double ended brush to help you! With a mix of matte and shimmer, this palette is a great multi-tasker and suitable for any occasion.' New Look 12 Shade Eyeshadow Palette, £12.99 'The brush is ever so slightly curved which made this mascara super easy to apply, while adding an instant curl to my lashes. The formula slicked on fluidly and didn't clump, providing definition and volume within a few swoops of the wand.' New Look Black High Impact Volumising Mascara, £5.99'This is the perfect highlighter to carry with you on-the-go. It adds a soft and natural glow to your complexion, adding a healthy beam to your skin. You can also build it up for a more strobed finish for the evening!' New Look Glow Highlighter Stick, £4.99
'I applied this foundation in the morning and it kept my skin shine free all day! The coverage is medium but can be built up if you're after full coverage. It has great staying power too - it lasted eight hours without the need to touch up!' New Look No Shine Mattifying Foundation, £7.99 'The fear with highstreet makeup is often whether it'll be as pigmented as you'd like - but this blusher totally exceeded expectations. In fact, the colour was so intense I barely needed to use much at all and the hue was the perfect pink for spring!' New Look Moroccan Rose Blusher, £7.99 'This lip liner glides on and subtly adds definition to your lips. The colour combination of the two lip products is perfect for a nude look. The lipstick slicks on and doesn't feel dry, but it's fairly pigmented so if you're after a more natural look try blotting it slightly using your fingertip.'
