Extreme Beauty Testing: Kylie Lip Kits

Kylie Lip Kits have been on a bit of a review rollercoaster, from flack over the state of the lipgloss brushes to bloggers raving about how long the liquid lipsticks stay put.

So what's the deal? Are they worth the investment or are the multitude of dupes out there just as good? We put one of Kylie's latest kits through its paces with a bit of extreme testing to see if it lives up to what the Kardashian klan claim. Here's how our social assistant Emma got on...

Application 'Surprisingly for a matte liquid lipstick, the application is quite wet and glides on easily. Despite the glossy application, it almost sets into a perfect matte finish - and a non-drying one at that. The shape of the wand is perfectly shaped to help you create the desired lip shape.'

Staying Power 'I carefully applied the kit at midday in front of my bathroom mirror and from that moment onwards I was out of the house until the early hours of the next day. While I checked my lips a few times during the day - and was pleasantly surprised to see I didn't need to reapply - once the evening hit I must have looked in the mirror once. FYI, I usually check far more to see if my chosen lip colour needs topping up.To put things into perspective, my night consisted of a big dinner and copious amounts of wine. There was minimal transfer around my mouth and not a single smudge of colour on my wine glass. When I got in at 1am, there it was, still perfectly in tact where I'd applied it over twelve hours before.'

The next morning... 'Normally, my evening skincare routine simply consists of a cleanser and a night cream, but when it comes to the Kylie Lip Kit, you'll need an oil-based cleanser to remove it. I only had my usual cleanser at hand, so was left with somewhat pink lips the morning after - although this does show true staying power (and an excuse to wear it again the next day).

The result 'I'm going to go as far as to say that this is the best matte liquid lipstick I have ever tried. I'm not just saying it. The formula doesn't dry your lips out, it doesn't smudge or flake on your lips and one coat lasts ALL night.
